Thanksgiving & Snow Days

We saved "real food" for Thanksgiving day.  They had sweet potatoes and loved them!  Rachel kept sticking her tongue out after each bite.  She may have ended up with more on her face than in her tummy, but she was happy.  Dean leaned forward for every spoon full and eventually grabbed the spoon to feed himself.  It was fun.  Rachel is getting better about not sticking her tongue out, but isn't as excited about any of the foods as Dean is.  He LOVES eating - must be a true Smallwood!

Thursday it rained, then sleeted, then the freezing rain came, followed by snow all in one afternoon.  Mark worked from home on Friday, so we got to take the kids out into the snow.  I'm not sure they loved it, but they didn't cry either.
The road crews aren't very good at getting rid of ice and snow.  The crews scraped the snow off the roads leaving 1-2" of ice.  They don't salt - they gravel, which doesn't work.  So now the roads are basically interconnected ice rink for cars.  We did venture across the street to Sam's Club Saturday and we had 1 hour of church on Sunday.   Other than that I've been pretty much stuck in the house for 6 days.  I figured we would be in for a couple days, but a full week was totally unexpected.  Last night I went out with two other ladies from church to... gasp...Walmart.  It was great to get out of the house for a couple hours.  Now I'm buckled back in for another day or two before the ice is supposed to melt.
