Busy, Busy, Busy

Both of us have been keeping busy! Of course Mark's job keeps him on his toes, but then when he comes home he almost immediately goes to the garage to work on an entertainment center. It is four separate pieces that will fit together to form one very large entertainment center. By large I am talking 10 ft. high and 9 ft long~ huge! When I look at what he has done I am just blown away. I can never let a chance escape without showing off my hubby's handiwork. I keep thinking he is done, but every night he puts on another detail that is just amazing. I wouldn't have even attempted an arch, let alone adjustable shelves, cabinet doors, router details to match our home's columns, etc, etc, etc. I am SO excited to see the finished product! Yesterday he told me it will be done before my parents come to Arkansas for Thanksgiving. I am on the countdown!

I am still working on getting the house clean and personalized. A house is A LOT more compared to our 2 bed, 2 bath apartment!

Since writing the last post I have pulled up 5 dead Azalea bushes (there were 8, but Mark pulled up the last 3 for me), shoveled at least 100 lbs of rock out of the flower bed, dug up and pulled out 80 sq feet of landscaping fabric, used a hoe/rake to break up our clay "dirt", and added in bags of top-soil along the back fence. I followed all that back breaking work by laying new landscaping fabric, planting 35 Iris bulbs and 12 purple/pink mums, and replacing the rock. Both of those flowers are perennials so hopefully next year there won't be as much work to do! It looks so much better! I wish I had a before and after picture, but all I have is an in the middle picture.

This weekend I finally got around to cleaning the windows from the outside. I was kinda dreading it until I saw a commercial for Windex Outdoor All-In-One. It was so easy and I got the whole house done in just about 90 min (some of that time was spent lifting the hose over the fence and toting a ladder to our high arch windows). Boy did that small chore make a big difference! This picture shows a before and after in the same shot. Can you tell which window I have washed and which I haven't?

Oooo, I also finished that wreath you read about in the last post. Check it out! It took a few hours, but was very easy to put together. I wanted it to say BOO but that must be something lots of people are doing because both of those letters were sold out at Hobby Lobby. Eek worked just as well. I painted the letters lime green then covered that coat with a few coats of glow-in-the-dark spray paint. It is faint, but you can tell it's glowing as you walk up our path in the evening.

I know I haven't given a "tour" of the house yet :-/ sorry! I will one day, but I would like the entertainment center to be in the house and Mark's office to be cleaned up too. I also still need to paint the guest bedroom and take down wallpaper in our master bathroom. It is just so nice outside right now that I can't stand to be inside all day. I have been doing outdoor projects while I still can. Maybe by Christmas it will all get done and be captured by film. Hopefully you are getting enough of glimpse to get an idea of what it looks like though!

We will seriously need to come visit when the projects are complete (ha, like projects ever really complete!). Annabelle finally (I think) accepted you are gone when she resorted to her last question: "Well, did Jill's doggie go too?" and I had to tell her yes, Gizmo is gone too. That made it feel complete and she was very distraught!
