As most of you know, I (Mark) have been involved in a new startup business for the last 18 months that will be manufacturing Spider Silk. We have reached the point where we have actually been out looking for and touring facilities that we can move into when we begin production. Since we have a textile product, we've been looking at a lot of the old textile mills in North Carolina. With the economy the way it is, we've found the local governments to be extremely excited about the possibility of a new manufacturing business moving in.

One of our advisors, Martin Lancaster, a former US congressman, thought it would be good for us to go speak to our representatives. So, he set up some meetings for us last week to meet with two NC representatives. David Price, a 20 year veteran, was very upfront about how he could help us and not too excited. Larry Kissell, a freshman representative facing the possibility of not being re-elected, acted very excited and told us he would find some money for us. Not sure what will come of the meetings, but it was nice to go speak with them.

The best part of the trip was that Martin still has all of his perks from being a former congressman and liked to show them off. So he took us to lunch in The Capital at the Representatives' Dining Room then took us on a tour of The Capital. It was great because he could get into every off-limits spot in the building and he knows a lot about the buildings history. He is also a 33rd degree mason, so he pointed out a lot of the things that Dan Brown talked about in his new book.

Remember what you promised me when you were a little boy who would come to my apartment to play with Molly? You promised me that if you were ever the President of the United States, that I could come live in the White House? I promise not to cause problems.
