Pumpkins & Cakes

This week has been busier than the last 3 weeks combined...well at least with blog worthy stuff. Monday we carved pumpkins while watching the Halloween classic Hocus Pocus for Family Home Evening. Mark of course did a fantastic and very creative creation! Which leaves the basic face as my work.

Tonight I finished my second cake class. I made this flower basket cake as the final project. I feel like it looks a lot better than my last "final" project. I am very happy with the pansies, mums, cherry blossoms, and leaves, not to mention the basket weave!

After coming home from my class tonight, I decorated a 2nd cake to take to school tomorrow. Our school is having Character Day tomorrow. The 4th grade teachers are all going to be characters from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (check out the picture below). I needed to bring a snack to share, so I chose to keep practicing and made the rabbit's clock. I tried a chocolate molding method to make the clock's hands. It didn't work out perfect, but I know what to change for next time.

Alice (Mrs W.), Mad Hatter (Mrs. O), Queen of Hearts (Me), King of Hearts (Mr. V)

Jill -- the basketweave cake is beautiful! (All of them are impressive, but that's my favorite.) I have always loved that look.

Your pumpkin is not simple -- it's a classic look.
