Mark's brother Michael has decided to create an annual holiday called Fall Fest to celebrate fall before it turns into winter. Last week we went to Danville for Michael's new holiday. We ate fall food like homemade chili & salad with tomatoes from Susan's garden, and for some reason had a hilarious Saltine eating contest which ended with Evelyn (Michael's girlfriend) and Mark tying for 1st place. The weather didn't completely cooperate so we weren't able to go into the woods for a walk, but we did play football Sunday night. We toured an old mansion in downtown Danville which has been turned into a museum. I loved seeing the old Civil War Era memorabilia. Oh, I can't forget the fact that Michael would yell "Fall Fest" at least once an hour, just in case we forgot
about the joyous occasion that brought us together. :-)This week Jenny (Mark's sister) and her family came up to Danville and we proclaimed it Fall Fest 2. Someone is paying me to make them a cake for Thanksgiving, so after dinner we cut the cake I decorated for practice.
I thought it was pretty cute, and added some color into our Fall Fest. This weekend the weather was really nice so we spent a good hour and a half playing by the creek in the woods. Gizmo loves going to Grandma's house where he can run around off leash and he especially enjoys running along the leave strewn path through the trees. North Carolina has such a beautiful fall, I wish it would continue!
