10 Honest Things

My sister-in-law tagged me to blog about 10 honest things. I like to think of myself as a pretty open and honest individual anyway. Mark is continually telling me I don't need to answer people's questions so honestly every time. So now comes the challenge of finding 10 honest things that won't cross Mark's invisible line of TMI to family & strangers, but at the same time are things people don't already know about me.

1. I hate it when people commit to something and then bail out or bail in with no warning. When you say you are or aren't going to be somewhere that includes planning and preparation (reservations, cooking, etc...) that's what I count on. It bugs me more when people show up without warning when they said they wouldn't make it. If you think you probably won't make it but there is a small chance just RSVP "maybe" at least that way I have the bigger number in the back of my mind rather than have a small number and have to figure out how the heck to stretch 10 things into 14. I will always be happy you came, but I won't be happy about the stress that walked in the door with ya!

2. I was much more clean as a single than I am as a married woman. Right now my house is a disaster! In college (at least after my Freshman year) I would never let my living room and kitchen look this bad! I don't know what it is but it seems harder to get motivated to have a clean house now. Maybe it is the fact that I am working and by end the day just so much more exhausted.

3. I have a gross habit of picking my lip. I have been doing it for years and can't figure out why I do it. My Dad and Mark are constantly slapping my hand as I reach to make my lips feel smooth. At one point I thought I did it when I was stressed, but now I am not sure.

4. I don't like the idea of taking naps. My dad used to say "you can sleep when your dead," I guess that turned me against the idea of naps. The only time I ever end up taking a nap is when i am sick, and I try my best to get Mark to not take a Sunday nap so we can do things together instead.

5. I am a great sleeper. If I lay in bed awake for more than a couple minutes, then I am having a tough time falling asleep. Usually once I am in bed I can't even count to 30 without falling asleep first. If I wake up at all during the night, then it was a bad night. If I wake up 2 or 3 times it was a horrible night!

6. I have no desire to wake up 5 times during the night for a crying baby. While I want children, I think the perfect baby would sleep 6 hours from the get go. (Yes, I am aware this is impossible) Don't think I won't get up when the time comes, but I am not looking forward to that part of motherhood!

7. My favorite Genre is Historical Fiction. I especially like religious historical fiction. I guess it is because I feel there is some substance to historical fiction. I can enjoy reading and learn something interesting at the same time, how cool is that!

8. I am very patient with kids but super impatient with adults. Adults should know better and therefore don't get extra chances in my mind.

9. I have next to zero pain tolerance. I can't inflict any amount of pain on myself. I can't sit there and just wait for something to happen. The most I can ever do is pluck my eyebrows. Don't ask me to prick myself for a blood test, hold still to have shot, or put my finger in a mouse trap, it won't happen!

10. I don't know why some people look good in hats and some people don't, but I am one of those people that doesn't look good in full brimmed hats, however I love wearing ball caps! The only reason I don't wear them very often is because I don't like wearing T-shirts, so most of my shirts aren't casual enough to wear with a ball caps.

Okay that was hard, it took me almost an hour!

Thanks for doing it, Jill! It was fun to read more about you. Good luck with getting your baby to sleep through the night from day 1. If you do it, you should write a book! It would sell millions of copies. haha!

ok, for #3: i discovered this AMAZING ointment skin healing stuff that I use as chapstick - you only have to use it a couple of times for it to start working MIRACLES!!! i'm a lip BITER, not picker... which is pretty much the same thing. anyway try it, it's AWESOME!! It's called Aquaphor healing ointment, advanced therapy for dry, cracked, or irritated skin (or lips!!) by eucerin. seriously, it's awesome.
#4 - I am a napping FIEND!! my gosh. it gets worse every year!
#5 - i'm jealous.
#6 - solution if you nurse: pump and let the hubby do it!!! seriously! i wish I would do it more. but to be honest i secretly like being the "only one" that can take care of brooklin's night time needs - and luckily she is only waking up once now in the night if at all! (you'll love it... i hope!)
Jill, I miss you! you're awesome (word of the day) and your students are so lucky! let me know if you guys are ever visiting utah, ok!?

Jill- I COMPLETELY agree with many of these…but especially the being patient with kids but not with adults comment. I find that I'm constantly telling this to Casey…"Adults should know better! I can still mold these kids…they haven't learned yet. Adults have no excuse!" Maybe it comes with being a teacher?

Alice usually slept at least 6 hours each night once she was two weeks old. Lucky me! :D However, now she never wants to sleep.
