Kindergarten 2009-2010

As I closed the door to my 5th grade class I told myself teaching wasn't for me anymore, and it may never be worth the effort it took! However, less than three weeks later I got a call offering me a position to teach Kindergarten in one of the top schools of the district. I should mention I had 24 hours to decide and it started the NEXT week because it is a year-round school. I cried because it would ruin my relaxing summer with Mark, and all the plans we had already made. Talked to Mark about the position I had but didn't even apply for. Cried because I knew I could make a lot more money teaching than anything else. Called my mom & dad to talk about it. Cried because I knew it was an awesome opportunity. Talked to few teachers about the school and the grade level. Then finally stopped crying, because I knew I needed to accept the job. It was quite a trial!

Now that school has started I am realizing what a blessing that trial has become. The staff at my school is Wonderful (my old school had a good staff too). Here they are all helpful, friendly, and supportive, the most "family like" staff I have ever met. My little 4 & 5 year old students are ADORABLE! They are so excited about school. Even the little boy that doesn't follow directions and just stares at you instead of talking to you truly likes to be at school. They will work harder for positive praise and a sticker than most of last years class would work for a candy bar and A on their report card. They are excited to try anything, and as long as my voice makes it sound fun it always ends up being fun! They are learning the rules very fast, and try very hard to please me.

I have 13 little darlings instead of 21 because most kindergarten teachers have a teacher's assistant with them all day. I wasn't going to get an assistant at all, but was surprised when the principal told me I would get to have a 1/2 day assistant. It is nice having fewer children, and wonderful when Mrs. Scroggs gets to be in the class with us!

These are just a few pictures of some of my children practicing our center areas! How cute are they?!
