The kids are getting bigger and bigger. Rachel has just enough hair to put into mini-pigtails. The back half of her hair always ends up falling out after a few hours and her "bangs" don't fit in, but I love it!
Are you ready for your laugh of the day? After much practicing that involved stickers, water on foam paint brushes, honking and such the kids finally learned where their noses were. I was so excited to show off their newly acquired vocabulary skill so at dinner when Mark was home I stopped mid-sentence and said "Watch Mark. Dean & Rachel, where is your nose?" And Ta-Da! They showed us where their noses were. Oh, we're so proud! ;-P
The weather has started to turn. We had our first fall season tornado watch yesterday. It started as a good hard afternoon down pour, hail joined the mix, and then...

woo hooo woooo hooo woooooo hooooo tornado sirens are sounding and off we go to the shelter. Slowly. Rachel first. Followed by Gizmo. Then Dean. Then baby shoes and pants. Then me.
Fortunately they weren't scared, even when I had to leave one of them down there with Gizmo to go get the other. Once down in the shelter the kids danced, banged on the walls, and then got bored. Luckily it wasn't for long. During General Conference break this weekend I'm gonna find some books and toys to put down there, maybe if we have to stay down there more than 20 minutes next time we won't get quite as bored.
Today during naps I'm working on Halloween costumes (and blogging). I feel like I set the bar a little too high on the first go round. So I've decided I can't out-do myself each year. This year Dean will be wearing a costume that us DeYoung kiddos wore when we were little. Rachel is wearing a homemade costume this year though. I just finished tye-dying her onesie and sewing her skirt! Yay! I'm excited for it all to come together and see them side by side! Here's a teaser for you to hold onto until you get to also partake in the cuteness!
