People Keep Asking

People keep asking if we know what we are having yet.  Even though it may seem like we've known about having twins for a long time, remember that we knew it was twins at only 4 weeks.  Some people don't even realize they're pregnant at that point.  I think having more information earlier than normal has sped up everyone's expectations of hitting other big benchmarks.  Between sped up expectations and the fact that I now look bigger than a normal woman at 18 weeks (some days I feel huge and other days I feel pretty tiny), I guess it makes since that people expect us to know gender already.  I've only gained 8-9 lbs instead of the recommended 15.  No, I'm not bragging... I'm starting to get a little worried.  I guess ultrasounds don't lie...there have to be twins in there and they must be eating up all the calories I'm consuming.  I eat small portions every 2-3 hours with tons of protein in the mix.  I've never eaten so often or so much over the course of any given day.  I'm never hungry and by the end of the day Mark has to almost force me to eat something before bed.  Before I got pregnant I couldn't eat a slice of pizza without gaining a pound.  Now I eat all the time and can't seem to gain weight when I'm supposed to - it's crazy!

Hopefully we'll find out genders this week, but if not we'll have to wait until the end of the month.  I think I've been asked every wives tale there is about gender and the answers don't match up!

I kind of like that it's split down the middle.  I love the idea of getting one boy and one girl, but Mark's ideal is that we have two boys on the way.  With the way this whole thing has worked out - lack of following our "plan," - we probably have two girls on their way.  That will be just fine with both of us too!  Every time I dream about the babies they are wrapped in white blankets with no hint of gender.  Two friends have dreamed we had two boys and one has dreamed it was two girls.  So apparently the suspense is meant to continue for at least a little longer.

We go in for a level two ultrasound this week.  We're hoping that since the detailed anatomy scan will be done by a specialist he'll be able to tell us gender rather than make us wait for a normal ultrasound at the end of the month.  What do you think he'll find?  I've put up a poll on the right...I'm interested to see how you interrupt these wives tales results.

No matter how much you weigh or are suppose to have gained,, you're looking pretty darn great! Can't wait to hear about gender- either way is pretty great :)

I remember hearing that IVF babies tend to be boys (the whole "faster sperm" thing)... so I'm going with 2 boys! But one of each would be perfect, wouldn't it?

LOL...I never fit the "old wive's tales" for gender; not even close when I was pregnant with Shawn. Gaining weight...makes me think back to a friend that was pregnant with twin girls while I was pregnant with Caylene--she had hot fudge and brownie ice cream sundaes for breakfast in her last trimester to gain weight LOL

You look gorgeous! You will have a boy and a girl, and you will name them Paul and Paula.
Love,

Ooooh, so excited! Don't be worried about not gaining enough... The majority of the first half of the weight is YOU not baby, so that just means less flesh to try and lose after birth! Although, i can'ttell you how or what to worry or not worry about, duh, but i hope you don't fret! Weee! So stoked. I voted 2 girls, because i love my girls :)

Have you tried the Brazilian wives tale of putting a fork under a sofa cushion and sitting on it? It is accurate approximately 50% of the time! ;-)
