When Mark's Away Jill will Play

Mark left town a week ago last Friday after work.  He was helping Walmart shoot a commercial in Norfolk, VA on Monday, so he left early to spend time with his sister, mom, and dad.  While he was away I partied it up.  A few friends came over Friday night for an Opening Ceremony party.  I should have taken pictures, but didn't even think about that until it was too late.  Saturday morning I prepared my first combined YW lesson for Sunday and then went to a ward party for a few hours.  Next I went shopping at Charming Charlies.  I love that place and thanks to Mark's awesome birthday gift card I was able to buy 2 shirts, 2 pairs of shoes, and 2 pairs of earrings with less than a dollar in cash.  Saturday night more ladies came over for an unfinished project night.  I tell ya...It was fun!  After he got home the normal routine kicked back in and we enjoyed being together again.  Nothing makes me remember how much I need and love Mark like having him go away for a bit.

This week my kids are on vacation.  Sophie's birthday is on the 11th so they went to the London Olympics for her birthday.  Yup you read that right...they went to the Olympics for a 9 year old's birthday, and no...it doesn't count as her present.  I begged and pleaded for her to put me into her suitcase, but alas they still left without me.   Bummer!

What have I been doing with my 2 days off you may ask?  What a good question!  I've been cleaning and getting caught up on appointments.  Yesterday I deep cleaned the kitchen and took care of the mess monster in my office/craft room.  Today was spent in Tulsa at the fertility clinic meeting with person after person as we figured out what needs to happen next.  I have an eye appointment late this week to check my 1 year post-lasik vision.   Tomorrow I'm in charge of the YW activity, I'm going to make sugar cookies with a friend, and steam clean the carpets.  I don't quite know what I'm going to do with the rest of the week after my cleaning gets done b/c the house is actually in quite good condition.  Hopefully I can get some crafting finished and then just enjoy the 1st half of next week before Max and Sophie return.

PS:  As I mentioned in my last post that I finally got some things to decorate my crazy huge space above the mantel.  Mom found the clock in UT and then the other things came from Tai Pan Trading, Hobby Lobby, or were things I already had around the house.  It really did make a BIG difference to the feeling of the room when this part got done.  I love it, but I'm still trying to convince Mark of its awesomeness.  Mark has started staining the entertainment center again, so my hope is Christmas.  I'm gonna give it 4 more months before I give up on getting an entertainment center into this space.  I can't believe we've been in here for a full year.  We've done a lot to the place, but still have more to go.  I'm not gonna lie ~ it's pretty awesome being in your own home!

It was wonderful seeing Mark, even if it was only for a few hours. Sure do miss you three.
