Life has been especially fun lately. The Sunday before Memorial Day Mark spent his "waiting for Jill" time talking with a few families in the lobby after the 3 hr block. The men decided that it would be a great idea to rent a boat and spend their day off on the local lake. By the time I got back from Ward Council and BYC he had the boat reserved and
5 other families signed up to join in the festivities. It was AWESOME! Mark got the largest pontoon boat I have ever seen (42 ft long and about 12 ft wide) and we were off. The Wrights brought their ski-boat and we made an afternoon of it! Fishing, swimming, grilling, napping (there was enough room for multiple pack-n-plays for the babies), laughing, tanning, and tubing. You couldn't have asked for a more perfect summer day. We all agreed that it IS happening again this summer!
Last week was also "Shareholders" out here in Wally World world. I was surprised to learn that this meant a whole slew of free entertainment options. Oh goodness did we ever take advantage of that! Tuesday we enjoyed Chris Young opening for Carrie Underwood. I must say... I think I knew more of his songs than hers, but she was adorable when she pulled up two little girls from the audience to help her sing "American Girl."Wednesday night was Cheap Trick opening for Areosmith. Fantastic concert! Our seats were better for this one and both bands seemed to get really into it. I was impressed with how much energy the guys had. They are old, but you wouldn't have know it by how they grooved and moved on stage. I was also struck by how involved Steven Tyler was with the way the band sounded that night. He was very insistent when he told the sound guys to turn down the saxophone, turn up his ear piece, or fix the way the drums sounded. It impressed me even more knowing he wasn't getting paid to be there and he knew the audience hadn't paid to go either. While I enjoyed Carrie Underwood her sound quality wasn't as good as Areosmith's and I'm positive that was all because of Tyler. He was also very complimentary of each and every band member both at the start and end of the show. He was a true professional.
I remember going to bed Wednesday night thinking "This has been a great week. How can Thursday even dream of competing? At least Friday is Friday. What can Thursday possibly bring the the table?!" Well...it wasn't quite like Mon-Wed. but I did get to spend Thursday afternoon at the pool with Sophie, Max, & their cousins (who just happen to be the Clives - who Mark and I hang out with at least once a week). It may not have been a rock concert, but it was fun too. On Friday I got paid and could finally make a big deposit into the bank from my hard work. Saturday, Mark and I worked in the yard from 10-4 and got more landscaping done in the back. I think that back bed is almost where it needs to be.
It was a great week full of fun, fun, fun!
PS: I'm now working as part-time nanny until the end of June. Then I'll work 12 hrs a day as their nanny for the months of July and August.
