The first dress-up was for the ward Broadway Night. A group of girls preformed the song Beautiful Girls. In the song a man describes 12 fashionable outfits. Roxanne was wearing "A string of pearls, with a suit of tweed, it started quite a riot" I took the lyric "you'll knock'em dead at dinner if your gown just drips with fringe" and Desi took the line "for lounging in her boudoir, this simple plain pajama." To drip with fringe I had a friend help me sew hot pink fringe on my skirt, neckline, and under my arms. I "dripped!" I was terrified to be up on stage in front of everyone, but for some reason when my friend Mardee handed me a hot pink wig... I figured if I was going to look ridiculous I may as well act the part so nobody would know I was scared. It worked and I got lots of compliments!
The next night was Mardee's surprise 1/2 birthday party. It was a Rock Band birthday party and we were asked to dress the part. I made the cake and didn't get to dress up as much as I wanted to but I put on some blue eye-shadow, clipped a light-up extension in my hair and added a little poof at the top.

The cake was rushed... I didn't have much time to work on it Friday b/c of Broadway Night and I also had to tutor on Saturday so poor Mardee had to take an unrefined cake. It was supposed to be a drum set and the scroll that plays on the screen. I would have liked to spend another hour on it, but I did what I could.

Last weekend we were given some amazing patio furniture from a ward member. It is beautiful. We got 6 chairs, a small table, and area space heater (the tall propane kind), and a fire table. All for FREE! To celebrate we invited our neighbors over for Smores.

Last weekend was also the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Pea Ridge (Civil War). They threw a big event and even though Mark stayed home to work on the entertainment center I went with my friend AJ's family and loved the whole afternoon immersing myself into history again.

We also dog-sat our friend Tara & Dan's dog. I was nervous Gizmo and Brooke wouldn't get along, but they did wonderfully. Brooke actually had a calming effect on Gizmo. He stayed outside longer, ate his food like a normal dog, and didn't whine when the thunderstorm went though. I doubt it will stick, but it was a nice change!
