Drop Dead Gorgeous ~ Weather

The winter across the nation has been mild. According to Mr. Al Roker it's because the jet stream is so far north. Hum....good to know the reason why, but yesterday all I really cared about was how gorgeous it was! Even the bulbs I planted last fall think it's mid-spring. Do you see how many flowers I have blooming in my walkway bed? Pink, purple, gizmo, purple, pink, pink... so gorgeous. I wish I would have spent more time outside than I did though. Most of my day was spent shopping for groceries and other necessities, cleaning, and visiting a friend who just bought their first home here in Arkansas. While all of those were good things and needed to be done, I should have delayed them a day. I want yesterday back! Today we have thunderstorms on the menu with possible isolated tornadoes. :-(

No need to worry about the bad weather coming up in the spring, because we ordered a storm shelter last Saturday. We're spending our tax refund on one that is much bigger than we will ever need, but we plan on filling the extra space with food storage and emergency supplies. It's due to be installed in the floor of our garage in about 2 weeks...perfect timing for tornado season to start peaking. From what I've read, Arkansas's peak storm season is between mid-March and early-June. It's comforting knowing that as long as we stay home when tornadoes are likely then we can get to a safe place without ever stepping foot outside. Now let's just hope we never have to actually climb down in it for real.
