As Mother's Day approached Mark and I discussed how to best spend the holiday. We decided to spend Saturday with his father and step-mom in Clarksville, but then spend Sunday with his mom, aunt, & grandma in Danville. Friday night we left the house around 8:45pm on our way to Clarksville. I was exhausted from the school week, so I laid my seat back for a quick nap during the 90 minute drive. I woke up at 10pm (or so I thought) and could not figure out where we were. Mark told me that he had tried a different route and we were almost there. When I woke up again

Mark was getting out of the car at a hotel. The clock showed 11:30pm in the car, but 12:45am on my phone. I had no idea where I was. I opened the door thinking he had arranged the beach trip he had been talking about, but the air didn't have the salty smell that fills the air near the beach. Not a single hotel or restaurant in my view had a name or address that gave away my location. I was completely puzzled until he dropped a Williamsburg VA magazine in my lap!
Mark had gotten hotel reservations, two-day all access passes, had his parents in on the plan, and he had been changing the clock in the car to prevent me from figuring out what was happening when I woke up periodically to get more comfortable, all so I could be completely surprised. It worked!

We spent two wonderful days enjoying Historical Williamsburg. We went on tours, watched historical plays, and took lots of pictures for my photography class. I really enjoyed myself and feel so lucky to have such a thoughtful husband!
