we would be interested in working for the Humane Society for a night by driving some birds up to Rochester. After I got home from work we drove up to Danville to pick up 5 crazy birds. The green parrots that were put right behind the drivers seat literally growled. I didn't know birds growled, but they do! We drove through the night and made it to Rochester NY around 7 am. Since we were 11 hours from home we decided to drive the extra hour up to Niagara Falls NY.
that included all of the stops we wanted to see anyway. We went to a small island just above the falls that had a very beautiful view due to the combination of leaves, boulders, and rushing water all around us. After we left that beautiful little spot we went on the Cave of the Winds tour. In this tour you go down right into the midst of
the American Bridal Veil Falls.
The almost useless raincoats they gave us are TOTALLY unflattering, so ignore us and look at the beautiful falls in the background.
After visiting the American Falls we went to the famous Maid of the Mist boat tours and went right into the middle of the horseshoe. It was an awe inspiring experience to be so close to such a powerful natural force! The only thing that could have made it more beautiful would have been the sun. We just barely made it to all of our desired locations before it started raining (it continued to rain into the next morning), we didn't get to see "the rainbow," and the colors seemed to be muted. I feel like the sun could have helped all that...but we will take what we got and feel blessed!
The next day we decided to go visit Canada before driving 12 hours towards home. Hey why not, we had driven 12 hours to see the falls, so an extra $3 and 15 minutes was worth it. Mark can now say he has been to Canada. It was an exhausting trip, but very fun!
