Karissa's Shower

This week was a short work week for me, because I got to drive up to D.C. for my sister-in-law's baby shower. Thursday night I went up to meet Mark's mom at her home in Danville.

When we got to D.C. on Friday, Brady & Karissa made us a wonderful dinner before we left to see the monuments. It was dark and so cold! We stopped by the Jefferson Monument, and then decided it wouldn't be worth it to go walking to any other monuments. Brady drove us around D.C. so we could look at the Washington Monument, White House, WWII Memorial, and a few others up close (from the windows of our comfortable car).
Saturday was the baby shower. I was Really worried about my gift. I have a friend in the ward who makes these super cute little birds. Since I knew that Karissa was decorating her nursery in birds, I thought maybe I could make a mobile for the baby's room. I made six birds in green, pink, and yellow and tried balancing them on sticks. It was hard but I finally figured it out. The other women at the shower liked them, so that was very good. I have never been a big fan of giving homemade gifts, because it is such a gamble as to whether they will be used or even appreciated. I guess I need to just get over that.

After the shower we visited with Mark's aunt Jane and cousin Stephanie, who also came to the shower. It was fun to hang out with Mark's family again. I am so happy Karissa decided to invite the family up to her shower.
