Mark's Stocking

For the past couple of weeks I have been working on making a stocking for Mark. My mother gave me the stocking she made when I was a little girl. Mark's mom likes to keep the kids stocking for decorations, so that left Mark without a stocking at our home. I bought one of those felt applique stockings and finished it over Thanksgiving break. Now we both have a stocking to hang over our future fire place!

This week we also decorated the house by buying our Christmas tree. Mark carried it up the stairs and hung the lights. I hung the ornaments (silver and red balls & souvenir ornaments from our vacations). I have always really liked the beautiful trees in magazines, and did the best I could to make a beautiful tree without buying anything.

Of course it wouldn't be a Jennings/DeYoung home without the Hummel Nativity. When I was a little girl all of the cousins would go to Grandma Jennings' house every Sunday. The Sunday after Thanksgiving my grandma would take out a big box and call all of the older children to help her unpack & unwrap the nativity. We were all so careful unwrapping the pieces and I don't think we ever broke even one. It was always something to look forward to as the girls searched for Mary and the boys searched for Joseph. Since I started college my mom and dad have been giving me a piece or two every year for my own nativity. I currently have the holy family, an angel, 2 wise men, 2 Shepard's, and some animals.

Only 20 days 'till Christmas!

The stocking is perfect! You did such a fantastic job. The tree is beautiful, but how in the world are you keeping Gizmo away from it?

You're stocking turned out so well. I'm glad that I could play a small part in it. That top row of green sequins looks so amazing, right? ;)
I'd love to make some fabric birds with you, they're really easy and fun. And yes, it is the pattern I used for Kristi. Just let me know when you're free.
