Teacher Work Day

Today was a teacher work day. I had high ambitions of cleaning out all the drawers, cabinets, and cupboards that were left with tons of stuff in them over the summer. After cleaning out under the sink, and 1 closet that was in the bathroom I had 3 LARGE bags of garbage. They look 100% better, but man I wish I had taken before and after pictures (especially in the bathroom).

After tackling those projects I moved onto a cupboard with 20 cubbies in each side. I cleaned out one side and redistributed the objects (mostly math manipulative's) to the different grades that were appropriate for the items I found. The things that went with the 5th grade core were organized and put on the other side of the cupboard where my students will have a harder time getting to them. I am now left with 20 empty cubbies. Which is FANTASTIC because I currently have 20 students. I think I am going to not tell the students about this extra space. However, I may end up using it as a storage space for the students to put science and art projects in. These are before and after pictures of the cabinet.

After 6 hours of cleaning I really didn't want to stay much longer and quit for the day. While I didn't complete my goal I still feel like I accomplished something! :-)
