Back to Work thawack

Well the whip has been ....whipped :-). Mark is back to 5 day work weeks and I am back to home improvements. Our bathroom is a MESS! We knew when we bought the house that the master bathroom was not our style and would need to be redone. We just weren't into the cranberry color or the off white Grape/Bleeding Heart/Flowering Vines wallpaper that made the space seem to close-in around you the minute you stepped inside. So at the beginning of this week I looked up taking down wallpaper to paint on the HGTV network and the DIY network websites. Easy Peasy was the impression I came away with. Just remove the fixtures, spray Dif on the wallpaper, let it sit 15 mintues, pull the wallpaper off, wash the wall with a hot wet towel and paint. AHH! Again I say AHHH! The mirrors are glued to the wall, some of the screws were broken in the wall, the glue was crazy thick and tore the drywall, and the drywall itself is dented and scratched. What I thought would be done by today, Saturday, doesn't look much different than it did on Tuesday since I have spent all my time sanding drywall only to spray a sealer and spackle (is that the right word) over the rip to make it smooth again. I'll admit that yesterday I avoided that room like the plague, so today is the day to bust out the electric sander and go at it. I fully intend to be one big dust ball by lunchtime. What am I sanding you may ask? #1. All the spackle that I had to apply to the torn dry wall and screw holes. #2. The walls themselves b/c warm water did not take off all the glue residue but has instead left a weird uneven texture. After the walls get sanded I "get" to paint. Hopefully by this time next week, for real, the bathroom will be a wonderful oasis of relaxation!

Oh.. I also got about 8 inches of my hair cut off yesterday. I have been growing it out for the past 3 years thinking I would leave it long until we had a baby that would pull at it, but last week I decided it had grown too long and I had to let that silly idea go. I look better with medium length hair anyway, so I found some pictures of haircuts I loved and went to the salon excited for the change. It ended up a few inches shorter than the picture I showed the stylist, but when I showed it to Talise she said it looked great and the mommies at play group yesterday said it look good too...so I guess I'll get used to it soon enough!

Wish me luck and hey if you like sanding or painting come on over any time...I'll provide the paper, paint, and tunes if you promise to stay and keep me company! ;-)

That would be a big NO on helping with anything to do with wallpaper and the after-effects! I put wallpaper up throughout most of our house here and took wallpaper down again. What a pain! I'm sure you will get it looking lovely, though! And I love your hair.
